Last night I called the New Community.
I encouraged everyone to use their Bibles when Jason taught, and I celebrated the release of Tim Steven's new book POP Goes the Church. I love GCC!
I told the crowd I was taking pictures of bird in the Coronado National Forest so I thought you might enjoy seeing this Greater Roadrunner. This avian wonder was running around me so I laid down and shot him at ground-level.
He was as intent on me as I was focused on him. Apparently this bird was studying me (as much as a bird-brain can engage disciplined observation). He stayed near and I remembered a passage in the Old Testament reporting God once sent birds with provision for His prophet Elijah.
The birds brought Elijah bread and meat every morning and evening, and he drank water from the stream. (1 Kings 17:6)
God sent Ravens to Elijah.
He sent this Roadrunner to me.
I'm passing the beauty of God's creativity on to you.
Awesome.

It is funny that you mention 1 Kings 17. I am actually teaching on Elijah and how God provided for him through the ravens and a poor widow this weekend. Great story! Thanks for sharing!

Jeff and I have been impressed, commenting, and laughing at how you know the scientific names for things. When I titled a post last week, "My idea was brilliant!", he suggested I add "Femalus Smartus" behind it. I declined but laughed at the idea.
With this one, geococcyx californius, I'm really wondering if you're not messing with all of us...just a little?
