Amber is going to have a baby.
Anyone out there with advice on dealing with morning sickness?
Any good old home remedies?
Any magic recipes?
Any recommendations?
Anything that worked for you?
Who knows how many nauseated women will be helped by the comments on this post?
Proverbs 12:26 - The godly give good advice to their friends.
Mar-Main Pharmacy across from Memorial hospital makes a special compounded capsule called FTAN (First trimester anti-nausea). It's only available by prescription, so she'll have to ask her doctor about it, but they ship it out all over the country for women.
As far as non-prescription, some women find relief with ginger root. There's a company in California (Reeds) that makes a candy out of it; you can order it off their website.
Hope it helps!

I was extremely sick my entire pregnancy. All day, everyday. The Dr. put me on a constant I.V. which I changed at home everyday that was filled w/ anti nausea meds. Those worked only for a few days. I tried numerous other things from injections to old wives' tales.
The only thing that worked for me was a dissolving tablet of Zofran. They are quite expensive ($25 a pill), but covered by most insurance companies.

OK, Amber, Here's the multi-faceted solution:
*While driving, do not look in the rear view mirror then back at the road
*If you must scroll your computer screen, do so very slowly
*Stay horizontal all of the time
*Smell nothing
*Eating nothing other than cheerios, pickles or cottage cheese
*Whatever you do, don't roll over in your sleep
*Do not take showers
*Walk nowhere
Hope this helps! Love you so much and I'm praying for you!!

Congratulations! :-)
I've always heard that the motion sickness bands that you wear around your wrist can help.

My grandma is 93 years old and had 14 children, she swears by sucking on peppermints or putting real peppermint oil in some hot tea and drinking that. The peppermint oil can be found in all healthfood stores or maybe even wal-mart.
Good luck

I recommend Preggie-Pops, available at most any maternity store. I am 32 weeks along and still getting sick a couple times a week--if I have these handy when I start to feel nauseous, they definitely help!

I've never been pregnant, but my wife just had a baby a few weeks ago. She was sick the whole pregnancy, but was able to control it a bit by eating animal crackers before she got out of bed in the morning. When she woke up, she'd eat a few to get something in her stomach before she got out of bed, and it helped a ton.

Aunt Becky,
You're hilarious!
Love you!

Before you lift your head off the pillow, try eating a few small bit size saltines...then sit up and eat a few more...don't know why it helps but it does! Something with the salt and something in the stomach before you get moving.
Keep peppermints with you to have throughout the day.
My "morning sickness" are now 18 & 22 -- it works!
I also used to quote my favorite verse "This too shall pass" and it does all too quickly!

Grape popsicles and soda crackers for breakfast, and a vanilla cream filled donut before bed. It sounds weird but it was the only thing that worked. I had nine months of AM nausea to experiment! Sorry but you need to avoid all chocolate!
Hangeth thou in there!

Well first of all CONGRATS!!! having a baby is the best gift in the world. I really didn't have morning sickness but the little i did have was caused from taking my pre natal vitamin in the morning, so i started taking it at night and the morning sickness was gone..
*I know that you've probably heard this alot but enjoy every minute when the baby arrives, it goes by soo fast. My little girl will be 6 months friday. It feels just like yesterday, that i had her.

Amber,
Cherish every moment! Saltine crackers by the bedside. Your mother with you for 2 weeks after the baby was born. Great way to bond and a new mother reverts back to a little girl that needs her mommy again. ( we never stop needing them) EVERYONE will have advice, smile and say thank you, especially to the people in the grocery store and the crazy ones from GCC. Never turn on the tv at night during 2:00 feedings. Let dad get the baby and bring it to you to feed(if you nurse) and put it back to bed when finished. Follow your instincts, they will never be wrong. Do what feels right. Sing the same song over and over and watch their reaction when they recognize it and your voice. NEVER be afraid to ask questions as their are no stupid ones. If you don't like your pediatrician, switch. You are an authority on your baby and it's only advocate and biggest fan. be prepared to see your dad turn into the biggest pile of mush and softy for the next 30 or so years. Be sure to get Good Night Moon and Runaway Bunny books. sleep when the baby sleeps. remember the moment that you realize that how much you love the baby is how much your parents love you...for me was the most profound.
and the best advice i got was from a nurse as she handed me my first born...."Just love him and the rest comes easy." Three sons and 20, 18 and 11 years later it still holds true....
May God keep you in his loving arms.

ps. and just when you think labor couldn't get any worse...let go and let God :)
