My conversation with Mike took place this morning at the front door of the theater. He was early and we talked while he waited for his daughter.
Mike has been at GCC for about 3 months. Since he has a strong church background Mike's first visit at GCC was a bit traumatic; he'd not heard "music like that" in church before...but Mike kept coming.
He loves our focus on Jesus, and realizes our methods serve our mission to "help people take their next step toward Christ."
As this weekend's service unfolded (and Rob preached one of the best sermons I've heard) I kept thinking, "I'm so glad I get to be part of a local church with a big vision, focusing small interventions, for big results!"
Greater things are yet to come.
Greater things are still to be done in this city!
We are concentrating (that means "focusing") on the essentials that are good for everyone!
Titus 3:3-8 - It wasn't so long ago that we ourselves were stupid and stubborn, dupes of sin, ordered every which way by our glands, going around with a chip on our shoulder, hated and hating back. But when God, our kind and loving Savior God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. Our Savior Jesus poured out new life so generously. God's gift has restored our relationship with him and given us back our lives. And there's more life to comeāan eternity of life! You can count on this. I want you to put your foot down. Take a firm stand on these matters so that those who have put their trust in God will concentrate on the essentials that are good for everyone.
