Tim and I were scheduled to participate in meetings all day in Chicago. So on the way we grabbed lunch with Doug Turner and talked about the challenging economy in which we're doing ministry. I was fascinated to hear Doug talking about the tendency many demonstrate to present a solid rationale for ministry while ignoring the need to inspire, envision and motivate.
Doug said, "Logic is no match for passion in this environment."
It made sense to me. I've watched people who knew what they should do as they stood idle, doing nothing. I've also seen people fired-up with passion and enthusiasm for a cause as they rushed forward to make a difference, even if they lacked a well-considered plan.
Which do you believe to be more important: logic or passion?
2 Corinthians 11:2 - The thing that has me so upset is that I care about you so much—this is the passion of God burning inside me!
Passion with a solid surrounding of logic. Not the reverse. :)
The lead has to have passion. Some of those surrounding him need to have some measure of logic. But a lead with only logic and no passion will not lead well.

I think we should strive for a healthy balance of logic and passion. I Cor. 14:15 counsels us to engage both spirit and mind. But everybody is wired differently; perhaps the best leadership team would be one comprised of individuals who collectively represent a balance of logic and passion.

Passion, of course! Most importantly Passion coupled with prayer though, and its important to note we can have a passion, keep moving and keep praying while we move, since God is right there with us all the way, we should be talking and listening with him as we work. Sometimes its good to stop and reflect with God while we pray, but then sometimes we must march and pray as we are about it....
Philippians 1:19
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.

Matt 23:1-4 "Then Jesus spoke to the crowd and to His disciples, saying, 'The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do. But do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy and hard-to-carry burdens and lay them on men's shoulders. But they will not move them with one of their finger.'"
Luke 11:39-42 "And the Lord said to him, 'Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and the platter clean, but your inward part is full of plunder and wickedness. Fools! Did not He who made the outside also make the inside? But give alms of such things as you have, and behold, all things are clean to you. But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over judgment and the love of God. You ought to have done these, and not to leave the other undone.'"
