An old song came to mind this morning. Its refrain, "Great is thy faithfulness," echoes the cry of Lamentations 3:22-24: "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness."
Humming the song's phrase, "Morning, by morning, new mercies I see," I felt a moment of conviction about our special Christmas Offering. It occurred to me that God will bring his compassion and mercy to the homeless and hurting when we deliver food to the hungry this Christmas.
Sheila and I will be bringing our special Christmas Offering check to GCC this weekend. If you'll be attending our on-line campus, you can give on-line here. If you're attending at Elkhart, MC3, the Granger campus or with our Prison Transition guys, bring your gift designated, "Special Christmas Offering."
Sharing and giving changes everything...including the lives of those who share and give.
Share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
Then your salvation will come like the dawn,
and your wounds will quickly heal.
Your godliness will lead you forward,
and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.
Then when you call, the Lord will answer.
"Yes, I am here," he will quickly reply.
