Birds establish a pecking order, as you see in this picture of Tom Turkeys fighting for status and dominance. Subordinate birds submit to being pecked by dominant birds. Sometimes they're pecked to death, and when the weakest are pecked to death by the strongest, the severity of this social hierarchy can be difficult to watch.
When people act like this it's because we're acting like animals, with the weakest having to survive as best as they can, dodging the onslaughts of the more powerful.
There is no mercy in the world of animals.
This is not a good way for people to behave.
"The Jesus Way" is different.
Instead of saying, "Submit or die," Christ's followers work together and walk by faith. Rather than dominating others (demanding their submission and telling them how to live) we work together. We lift one another. We "contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints," and there each can stand firm.
2 Corinthians 1:24 - That does not mean we want to dominate you by telling you how to put your faith into practice. We want to work together with you so you will be full of joy, for it is by your own faith that you stand firm.
