This is a very big weekend for all of us.
In each of our services, candidates for baptism will vow their commitment to Christ, recite The Apostle's Creed with the congregation and then, before the gathered church, they'll be baptized. They'll do this because they are Christ-followers, walking The Jesus Way and showing others The Jesus Way as they do.
At 4:00 this afternoon scores of parents will make vows to raise their little children in The Way of Jesus. They'll present their babies to Christ and we'll join in a celebration God's faithfulness. Jesus once told his disciples to make way for little children come to HIM, so we're showing them The Way.
A contingent of our LaPorte "core-group" will travel to the Granger campus to experience the 5:00 service. Some of them have invited friends. On October 14th they'll be initiating their Sunday night "pre-launch" services so they can better show their neighbors The Jesus Way.
Like I said, this is a very big weekend for all of us.
Deuteronomy 23:21-23 - When you make a vow to God, your God, don’t put off keeping it; God, your God, expects you to keep it and if you don’t you’re guilty. But if you don’t make a vow in the first place, there’s no sin. If you say you’re going to do something, do it. Keep the vow you willingly vowed to God, your God. You promised it, so do it.
