Last weekend Darnell Bailey was one of our 25 Smooth Stone Award winners. We had one of the greatest weekends I've experienced at GCC. What an honor to see the entire congregation thank and encourage a few who represent so many!
Paul once commended a woman to his people of the church in Rome. He said, "I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church in Cenchrea. Welcome her in the Lord as one who is worthy of honor among God’s people. Help her in whatever she needs, for she has been helpful to many, and especially to me." (Romans 16:1-2)
In the same way I commend Darnell to you. She has been helpful to many, and especially to me.
Could you describe what the smooth stone award is and the criteria you use to select the recipients? PS... love the quality photos and thank God for what he is doing at GCC.

Each week the Prison Transition Team brings men from the South Bend Work Release Center to church. Generally it is 7-9 guys. Last week, because of the faithfulness of God and the encouragement of the 7-9, 18 men came. The message is making an impact every week. This week, letting the past be the past, gave the men hope for their futures. Thanks also for identifying the giants of poverty and racism. As a bunch of old white guys who go weekly to minister to the men at the SBWRC, hopefully we are doing our part in slaying that ugly Giant.
