I've lived 55 years. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in the Biological Sciences. I've studied flora and fauna for decades. I've fished rivers, lakes and streams, collected vampire bats, speared grouper, held scorpions, captured rattlesnakes, hitched an underwater ride on the back of a sea turtle, fed Bald Eagles by hand and ridden elephants. I've hunted caribou north of the Arctic Circle, killed coyotes, swam with sharks, seen a jaguar in the Guatemalan jungle, hiked in deserts, jungles, mountains and woodlands. I've kayaked Alaska's intercoastal and Florida's brackish backwater bayous. In Canada I took a decent photo of a wild wolf. When I was in High School I wrestled a bear at the County Fair. (The bear about killed me.) But in all my years of outdoor study and observation, I don't remember ever seeing a hummingbird sitting on its nest. At least, that's how it was until now, because now I have. Have you?
(Just FYI, I could have gotten a better photograph with some fill-flash, but I didn't trigger a flash so I wouldn't disturb this minuscule aviator and risk causing it to abandon its babies.)
Isaiah 31:5 - I, the Lord All-Powerful, will protect Jerusalem like a mother bird circling over her nest."
Lots of great Photos, I nveer fail to marvel in the photography you provide and always appreciate the scriptures to accompany them
Thanks.

I want desperately to save up enough money for a decent camera (I'm working on it), and then somehow persuade you to teach me even half of what you know about how to use it.

Hello Mark - I've been enjoying reading your blog. I didn't realize you were such a photographer - that is my hobby also (www.indianalight.com). You still have that special gift to communicate. The folks at GCC are really blessed to have you.

That is an incredible picture. Chances to take that shot are rare.

First the hummingbird being still, now this. Wow, what a gift. A great "two-fer"!

I disagree, the shot was perfect! A flash would have spoiled the natural setting which you captured. Wow-we, zow-we!
