I grew up in Indiana and saw our state bird a lot. Cardinals are clothed in glorious red so they're easily identified by Hoosiers everywhere. But I'm not in Indiana. Today I'm in Arizona. So it was really awesome for me to be able to photograph this Cactus Wren.
The Cactus Wren is the state bird of Arizona. It's really big for a wren. This one was building a nest within the protective spines of this cactus. I'm not sure if it was a male or female since both sexes look alike. Even so, I was thrilled to get this picture.
I think it's my first decent photo of a Cactus Wren.
Doesn't it amaze you to see the wonder of God's creation? How awesome is this little desert-living-cactus-dweller?
Deuteronomy 22:6 - When you come across a bird's nest alongside the road, whether in a tree or on the ground, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, don't take the mother with the young.
