I used this video this weekend in our "Go Fish" series.
I think a lot of Christians have been sold a bill-of-goods.
They've been told they'll be hated if they show love to people, care for people, listen to people and share their faith with people. The truth is quite simple, and quite different; most people don't react to love with hate. When people feel genuine love, care and compassion they are usually grateful.
Penn's story is worth considering. He felt loved. He felt valued. Question is: Do the people I'm around feel loved or judged? Valued or diminished? Helped or wounded? Hopeful or condemned?
1 Thessalonians 2:8 - We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.
Mark,
Funny you should say that. I play in a band and one of our trumpet players asked me if the cross on my guitar strap was for real and did I believe it. I said yes without being defensive or preachy and I said it with a smile. Nothing further was said but days later they made a comment that I was a nice person and they meant it. I can see God at work in their heart and it is wonderful to see.
