Have you paused long enough ask yourself, "What makes a journey worth the effort?" It's a question to contemplate. If you know what adds value to your trips you can act accordingly.
What do you think? What makes a trip worthwhile?
I'll start the ball rolling, and you can add your thoughts to the list.
1. The people with you can make the trip, or derail it. I like this picture of Vic. He's one of my friends and my recent expedition was better because of him.
2. Your reason for taking the trip makes it a joy, or a burden. I prayed for 40 days before my Exodus journey began. I asked God to teach me something new along the way. I had great expectations and God surprised me with answers I never anticipated.
3. How much you learn either enriches your life, or makes you wish you would have paid more attention as your traveled along. Through the fog of a fatigued, and jet-lagged brain, I tried to pay attention on the Exodus route. I learned a lot and wish I'd learned more.
4. Deciding in advance to "take your fun with you" always helps. No matter how well you plan you'll face some unexpected challenges, delays and detours. Choosing a good attitude, long before you need one, makes every excursion more fun.
How about you?
Whether it's a short trip in the car, a drive across the country or a flight over the oceans, what adds value to your experience? What makes the road of life a little better?
Got any suggestions?
Psalm 119:32 - God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell me— my whole life one long, obedient response. Guide me down the road of your commandments; I love traveling this freeway!
5. Noticing and appreciating things that normally go unnoticed. It even makes the car ride to work more like a journey than a commute.

I love the taking your fun with you line. Until a few years ago, I didn't know that my mom go that from church, but I did know she always said it. It's fun seeing it on your blog and knowing where she got it. And to this day, it's one of the sayings when we go on trips.
