I was enraged when I heard the news that my nephew's daughter was fighting a monster last year. The enemy trying to take her life had a name; it was cancer. It was a malignant glioblastoma. Most of us, of the thousands who fought beside our little Ava last year, are still shaken from that battle. We hated that cancer. I hate it still. So when my dear friend Stan Buck let me know he's fighting cancer, my disdain for malignancy surged.
A brilliant neurosurgeon tracked down Stan's attacker. Its pathology is unmistakable. Stan is fighting cancer, a malignant glioblastoma brain tumor, already in Stage IV. I hate cancer. I'd like to see its death dealing ways done unto death. Someday I will. So I'm praying to that end. I hope you'll do the same.
If you "Run for a Cure," or "Ride for a Cure," or "Race for a Cure," or "Walk for a Cure" or do anything else to resist the cancers and diseases of our day, I'm proud of you. If you're studying the art and science of medicine - as is my own son-in-law - I applaud you. If you've befriended a cancer survivor, I celebrate you. If you're helping, loving, assisting, giving money or praying, I commend you. Well done.
Since Jesus taught HIS disciples to pray saying, "Thy Kingdom come and Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven," we've been obligated as servants of the Living God to engage the mission of "bringing up there down here." I'm proud of all your efforts to do so. One day there will be no more sorrow, no more sickness and no more suffering. Until that day, live strong friends. Have faith. Fight hard. Trust Jesus.
Remember. God wins.
Isaiah 40:31a - Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles.
Mark,
Our son Jacob's friend (5yr old Isaac)went to Riley's this week. It was found that Isaac had a brain tumor. It was removed yesterday and was found to be malignant. Isaac's family has started a caring bridge site as they begin this new chapter in their life. My family prayed hard for Ava and her family. And we will do the same with Isaac. This new situation with Isaac reminds me so much of what your family went through. So if you could please spread the word about Isaac. Cancer shakes us all in some way. Thanks for your post honoring those fighting and fighting along those suffering from this disease.
Praying,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff. I prayed for your Isaac when I read your words. You should know that you've presented your concerns to thousands through your thoughtful comment on this post. I'll pray for Isaac again; I'm sure others will too. May God bless you with wisdom, faith and courage as you walk your son Jacob through the days ahead.
