Halfway between the shore and an island in the middle of the swamp, this doe stood perfectly still, checking for danger. You can see her ears locked forward. She strained to identify any reason to turn around and head back to shore, and apparently she found one. Though the island promised safe refuge, she sensed peril ahead, and that danger not only stopped her in her tracks, it prompted a different direction altogether. She has other out-of-the-way-places to hide so she had no reason to wade into trouble.
Life in the wild is shortened by carelessness. Living without-a-care-in-the-world (as some are inclined) is detrimental no matter where you live.
Be wise today. Don't live in fear. Don't get sloppy. Stay alert and you'll improve your odds of success.
1 Corinthians 9:26-27 - I don't know about you, but I'm running hard for the finish line. I'm giving it everything I've got. No sloppy living for me! I'm staying alert and in top condition. I'm not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.
