In the normal routine of my life I've not often used the words "blizzard" and "boat" in the same sentence. And if I did, I'm sure I said something like, "I can't imagine using a boat in a blizzard." Or maybe I said, "We better not use the boat now because a blizzard is on the way."
Well, things have changed.
Since weathering the "Epic Storm" that hit Alaska I find myself saying things like, "Isn't it handy to have a boat in a blizzard? What fun!"
Consequently, I thought you'd enjoy rethinking your previously held assumptions. Grand boating adventures should not be reserved for warm weather and calm seas.
Storms and danger and boats yield memories that last a lifetime.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Luke 8:22-24 - One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out. As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm.
Wow, Mark! This picture might just be my favorite yet! I'm thankful for your safe return (I was praying hard for that and for your family as they waited). Thanks for continuing to challenge us to enter into a life of adventure and grace.
