My trip began on Thursday, November 3rd, and the adventure continued, day-after-day-after-day, throughout the days I'd planned for my Sitka Blacktail hunt, throughout the days our national news media declared Alaska was experiencing "The Storm of the Century," through the earthquake that rocked Kodiak and throughout 17 days of travel and adventure. I'm home now, back with Sheila and back with our GCC family. It was an awesome experience and I'm glad to be home.
Thanks for praying for Sheila and my kids while I was gone. I had occasional access to email so I was able to jot a few quick lines to my wife from time to time. She passed some of those emails on to my kids and Amber passed along a few email notes to all of you.
I took this picture during a lull in the storm, returning to the beach on Ugak Bay after a day of hunting. I set my camera on a rock during low tide and snapped this photo. Looks cold, right? Trust me, it was.
It was good to be on Kodiak. It's good to be back. No more cold nights.
It's all good.
Zechariah 14:6-7 - What a Day that will be! No more cold nights—in fact, no more nights! The Day is coming—the timing is God's—when it will be continuous day. Every evening will be a fresh morning.
I've never been happier to see a post from you! Soooo glad you are home. Apparently Kodiak Island is more like Pandora, the alien moon in the movie Avatar than it is like earth--this picture is surreal! Stay warm and enjoy your awesome family this Thanksgiving. Praising God for your safe return. Love you much.
