The sun dipped behind the mountains as my first day at St. Catherine's Monastery was ending, so I walked along this stone path until I could see the wall where the Coptic priests of the Orthodox Church called out their prayers. The lamp provided a bit of light as I set up my tripod to memorialize my first evening at St. Catherine's.
I was traveling with several friends from GCC - as such journeys are best made in community - so I didn't climb Sinai alone. Brothers shared the path. Brothers carried me up Sinai and back down again.
This morning I'm reminded of one great truth. Life doesn't need to be lived alone. God invites us into HIS family and calls us to walk the well-worn path of the Way of Jesus together. So today I'm determined to notice those taking steps with me. I want to encourage them along the way, just as others have so often encouraged me.
2 Corinthians 12:18b - Don't we walk in the same spirit? Don't we walk in the same steps?
Hello "Cousin" Mark! Visiting the Holy Land must be a great experience and those of us who have never made the trip and may never have the opportunity will enjoy hearing and seeing those things that our brother in Christ is experiencing. We do walk in the same spirit even when 10,000 miles apart!
