Jason waxed eloquent with his story of an 8th Grade bully. Then, with a gesture and a wave, he tossed his carefully stacked papers into the air. I watched those sheets of paper drift to the floor and wondered how young Jason must have felt when the bully grabbed his carefully prepared homework and scattered it in the school hallway.
I was stunned.
The illustration hit close to home; it's not that I've been picked-on a lot, but I have been undermined, blocked and discredited. You have too. We all know how criticism feels; it hurts. We know the facts; all too many in this broken world are ready to push others down and laugh as they fall.
That's true enough, but Jason told us something else that's true.
God is for us, even when people are against us. God has plans for us that can't be thwarted, no matter who tries to stop HIM. God has prepared works for us to do, no matter who throws us aside or mocks us for trying.
You can believe the people who take your hard work and toss it into the air as if it's nothing (as if you are nothing), or you can believe Almighty God, who says you are worth the life of His Son.
You are precious to God. You are loved. You are valued.
Don't believe the liars who say otherwise.
Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Pastor Beeson, I just wanted to say that I am always inspired to live more like Jesus when I read about what He is teaching you. Your pursuit of Him makes us all better people. Thank you for the encouragement.
