My remarkable friend Riley Robbins was playing drums
at Middle School Summer Camp at SpringHill
when I made this picture.
I've noticed a rhythm to my life, a pattern of worship that's repeated year-after-year. Every Easter I repeat what I've done every Easter previous; I celebrate Christ's Resurrection. I worship with Christ's followers: Easter-after-Easter, year-after-year.
By repeating something again-and-again, it can become something else. It can become something more than the single thing that's being repeated over-and-over again.
The right thing, done the right way and repeated again-and-again, has a cumulative effect that is not boring liturgical repetition; it is life-giving orthodoxy.
We're offering many opportunities for you to bring your family and friends to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ this Easter, then again-and-again in the years ahead. Join me and make this Easter the beginning of your own life-giving pattern of worship.
Matthew 28:6-7a & 16-20 - He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him. ... The eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
